What a d20 is for
The twenty-sided die, or d20, is the heart of most tabletop role-playing games. In Dungeons & Dragons you roll it for attack rolls, saving throws, and ability checks: add your modifier, compare the total to a target number, and the die decides whether you succeed. Because it has twenty equal faces, each number from 1 to 20 comes up a clean one in twenty, or five percent, of the time.
Natural 20s and natural 1s
Rolling a 20 on the die itself, a natural 20, is the game’s famous critical hit, and a natural 1 is the critical miss. Each has the same one in twenty chance on any roll, so on average you will see one of each about every twenty rolls. This roller shows the raw die result so you always know when a nat 20 lands.
Rolling with advantage or disadvantage
To roll with advantage or disadvantage, set the number of dice to two, roll both d20, and take the higher result for advantage or the lower for disadvantage.
